There is only one breed with the words Pit Bull in the name. Pit Bull however is not a breed, its a short, slang or nickname for the American Pit Bull Terrier. American Staffordshire Terriers are also considered Pit Bulls as they are the AKC counterpart of the APBT. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is also another breed considered to fall into the Pit Bull category.
American Pit Bull Terriers are registered with the UKC and ADBA
American Staffordshire Terriers are registered with the AKC and can be dual registered with the UKC or ADBA as American Pit Bull Terriers.
Staffordshire Bull Terriers are registered with the AKC and UKC. They can also be registered with the ADBA.
Each registry has a written standard for the breed. So dogs may vary depending on which registry standard they are being bred to.
