This is not at all true. They are not in the least bit rare. There are many blue Pit Bulls today. Blue is one of the most popular colors at this time, you can easily find a blue Pit Bull. Many breeders have them and are over breeding them, creating health problems within the breed. A lot of rescues and shelters actually have blue Pit Bulls too since they are so popular.
They are not a special type or a certain breed of Pit Bull. Blue comes from the dilution of black, depending on how much the pigment is diluted you can get a dark gray to very light blue. Many people believe that diluting too much can cause issues due to the lack of pigment, this isn't just with the blue color. There has been some evidence supporting this. Many breeders are breeding blue to blue and creating problems. Responsible breeders of blue dogs will go back to black dogs or other blue carriers to keep their lines strong. They do not breed for color but their lines do carry the blue color so they will produce blue pups, these dogs are more likely to be healthier. You can get blue dogs from non blue parents.
