My little ankle attacker will chew you up before the pit will , Many small dogs attack more often than big dogs , it is just the smaller dogs attack is not reported .. and most of the so called pit bull attacks were not pit bulls at all , many people can not even find a pit bull in a line up ...try for yourself.. www.pitbullsontheweb.com/petbull/findpit.html

I have never met a mean "pit bull"! My husband and I have been around pits our whole lives, most of our close friends and family own "pit bulls" and my husband and I own three APBTs, not one of them is mean, not one of them has ever attacked or bitten anyone and most of them live in homes with other pets and children! I think a lot of people choose to believe everything they hear in the media instead of just taking a little time to do some research themselves! "Pit bulls" like all other breeds, are not born inherently mean or bad! They can, like any other breed, become mean through lack of training, abuse, neglect and irresponsible ownership and breeding. "Pit bulls" are no more inherently dangerous to people than other dog breeds. People often assume that "pit bulls" are human aggressive because they were bred to fight animals. This is simply not true! If that were the case then Irish Wolfhounds, Anatolian Shepard's, Great Pyrenees, etc should be considered dangerous to humans as well. These dogs are powerful, smart, determined, loyal, and somewhat intimidating to look at to some people and because of this they tend to attract the wrong people sometimes. It's not these dogs that are bad, it's the careless breeders and irresponsible owners that make them bad! Any breed of dog can be mean and can cause serious damage! I was attacked by a Lab when I was younger and had to go to the hospital, my younger brother was attacked by a Lab, my neighbors (from when I was growing up) owned a Lab that attacked five people before it was finally put to sleep and my neighbors across the street from us have two Lab/ Shepherd mixes and a "pit bull". Guess which dog ran into our yard and attacked our male APBT, not the pit, it was one of the Lab/ Shepherd mixes! Their pit is the sweetest dog, but they have to keep their two Lab/ Shepherd mixes away from the other dogs and away from any people that they don't know because they are so aggressive! That's just the Labs and Lab mixes that I know that have attacked! I know people that have been attacked or bitten by Goldens, Beagles, Yorkies, Dalmations, St. Bernards, Chows, Etc. Any dog can be mean and any dog can attack! It all depends on how the dog is bred, raised, trained, socialized and handled! I wish more people would see that.
